1. Are you located near a bus line?
Yes, bus 37, your stop will be Brook Road & Azalea Avenue. We offer free Shuttle Service to and from the Wal-Greens at the coner of Brook Road & Azalea Ave. Please call us about the service in advance.

3. How many students do you normally have in a class?
We believe in small classroom sizes. We want to give our entire student body as much individual attention as possible. To accomplish this goal we cap all our classes to a maximum of 35 students per class.
4. What kind of vehicles do you use for behind the wheel instruction?
All of our vehicles are 2006 Dodge Stratus's. Each vehicle has a second brake pedal on the passenger side. Unique to A-Metropolitan Driving School, our vehicles are equipped with a dashboard camera. This gives us the opportunity to record our student’s experiences. We also upload their videos to our MySpace page for their review.
5. Is your school licensed?
Yes, our school is licensed, bonded, and insured. We are licensed through
Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles and all courses are DMV approved.
1. How often may I take the course?
For points, you may take this course every two years.
2. Will I get my certificate at the end of class?
You will receive a certificate stating that you have successfully completed the Driver Improvement Clinic at the conclusion of the course.
3. What is the cost?
The cost is $50.00 for Saturday classes and $75.00 for Sunday and weekday classes. Cash or Money Order due in class. Credit/debt Card are accepted on-line only. (No Checks)
4. Do I have to take a test?
Yes. 96% of the students that take our test, pass with a score of 80% or higher.
5. What happens in class?

No. We are 90% video free, the videos I show you will enjoy.
9. Do I need my Drivers License?
Yes. The one with your picture that you hate, or something with your DMV customer number (like an ID card or a DMV letter).
10. Are there any discounts?
Two members at same address/same household can receive $10.00 off for one student (students must have the same address on each driver’s license).
11. Corporate or large group rates - call for pricing.
This is a great way to save on your commercial insurance premiums. We offer special pricing for your company of 25 or more.
We can also be hired for public speaking on driving safely, defensive driving, and the importance of implementing car safety checks.
Virginia Driver's Permit Information
1. How do I apply for a permit?
In order to apply for your learner's permit in the state of Virginia you must be at least 15 years and 6 months old. You must go to DMV, and present one proof of identity (those over 19 must present two), one proof of your social security number, one proof of legal presence, and one proof of Virginia residency. When you apply for your permit you will also apply for your driver's license and pay both application fees. The learner's permit fee is $3.00 and the driver's license fee is $4.00 per year.
2. Who needs to get a learner's permit?
If you are under the age of 19 you must hold your learner's permit for at least 9 months before you can obtain your driver's license. If you are over the age of 19 and have never been issued a Virginia Driver's License, you must either hold your learner's permit for 30 days or present a completion certificate from an approved driver education course.
3. How old do you have to be to get a learner's permit?
You must be at least 15 years and 6 months old in order to receive your learner's permit.
4. Do I need to complete driver's education in order to receive my permit?
If you are under the age of 19 you must provide proof that you have successfully completed a state-approved driver education course before you can apply for your learner's permit. If you are over the age of 19 you have the option to either present a driver education completion certificate or hold your permit for 30 days.
5. Do I need my parent/guardian's consent to get a permit and/or license?
If you are under the age of 18, you must have your parents' or guardians' signatures on your learner's permit and/or driver's license application.
6. What documents do I have to bring with me to get a permit/license?
When you go to get your permit or license you must present one proof of identity (those over 19 must present two), one proof of your social security number, one proof of legal presence, and one proof of Virginia residency. You must pass a vision screening and a two-part knowledge (written) examination in order to obtain your learner's permit.
Virginia Licensing Information
1. Do I have to hold my learner's permit for a certain amount of time before I can get my driver's license?
If you are under the age of 19 you must hold your learner's permit for at least 9 months before you can obtain your driver's license. If you are over the age of 19 you must hold your learner's permit for at least 30 days before you can obtain your license unless you present proof that you completed a state-approved driver education program.
2. How old do you have to be to get a driver's license?
In order to get your driver's license you must be at least 16 years and 3 months old.
3. How do I apply for a driver's license?
In the state of Virginia you apply for your driver's license at the same time that you apply for your learner's permit. If you are under the age of 18 your parent or guardian must sign your application.
4. How many hours of supervised driving do I need in order to get my license?
In order to obtain your driver's license you must complete 45 hours of supervised driving, 15 of which must be completed after sunset.
5. How much will my driver's license cost?
Driver's licenses cost $4.00 per year in the state of Virginia. Partial years are rounded up to the next full year.
6. I am under 18. What rules/restrictions do I have to follow?
Drivers under the age of 18 may only transport one passenger under the age of 18 during the first year that you hold your driver's license. Once a driver under 18 has held his or her driver's license for one year, he or she may transport up to 3 passengers under the age of 18. Drivers under the age of 18 may not drive without parental supervision between the hours of 12 A.M. and 4 A.M. unless they are driving to or from a planned event or because of an emergency.
Virginia Driver Testing Information
1. What does the written/knowledge test consist of?
The knowledge exam consists of two parts. The first consists of 10 questions regarding traffic signs. You must answer all 10 of the questions correctly in order to take the second part of the exam. The second part of the written test is known as the general knowledge exam and consists of 25 questions. You must answer at least 80% of the questions correctly in order to pass the second part of the knowledge exam. If you are under the age of 18, you must wait at least 15 days before you can retake the exam. The questions on the exam are based on the information provided in the Virginia Driver's Manual.
2. How is the knowledge test administered?
The knowledge test is a pen and paper test. It is available in both English and Spanish. You can also provide your own translator if necessary. The DMV gives oral versions of the examination in the customer service centers.
3. How is the vision test administered?
You will look into a machine and read lines of letters or numbers to a DMV employee. In order to have a non-restricted driver's license, you must have 20/40 vision or better and 100 degrees horizontal vision or better in at least one eye. If your vision is between 20/70 and 20/40 in one or both eyes, you will be restricted to driving during daylight hours only (30 minutes after sunrise to 30 minutes before sunset). If you need to wear glasses or contact lenses to pass the vision screening then you are required to wear them when you drive. Both of these restrictions are indicated on an individual's driver's license when applicable.
4. What does the road skills test consist of?
The road skills test is administered by a DMV employee. No one is allowed in the vehicle during the road skills test besides the applicant and the test administrator. Applicants may take the road skills test a maximum of 3 times before being required to take the re-examination course at a DMV-approved driving school.
5. Does the test site provide a vehicle for me when taking the road test?
You must provide your own vehicle for the road skills test. You car must be equipped with the following items: a valid inspection sticker, license plates, registration card, and working brakes, safety belts, horn, lights, turn signals, mirrors and speedometer.
6. What happens if I fail the road test?
The road test can be taken once per business day.
7. How can I replace a lost or stolen permit/license, and how much will it cost?
You will need to obtain a replacement license if your license is lost, stolen, damaged, or mutilated. You may also replace your license if you need to change your address, change your organ donor status, or replace your Social Security Number with a DMV customer number. When apply for a replacement license you must show proof of legal presence. The license replacement fee is $10.
